For most of us a spa day is a real treat rather than part of our usual beauty regime. However, there is a great in between and that’s the home spa.
It’s more than just a face mask and a bubble bath, it’s bringing some of the elements you most enjoy about a health spa to your home.
You need to block out at least a couple of hours with no phone, internet or other external distractions. And you need to set the mood: chilled out music, a stack of glossies or a good book and a scented candle or two. Then let the pampering commence!
One brand that epitomises the home spa philosophy is Fushi: this amazing lifestyle website has everything you could possibly need from skin, body and haircare to supplements, superfoods, tonic drinks, candles, oils and even yoga wear and accessories.
I’ve been lusting after pretty much the entire product line ever since my discovery, so was pleased to make good use of several Fushi items as part of my own home spa evening.
The Best Superfood Berry Blend
This is a beautiful buy for some internal pampering. Essentially a pot of antioxidants, this powder contains a trade-marked formula called OxigrapeX-100 (derived from grape seed, grape skin and reservatrol), along with some of the Earth’s best super fruits (goji, acai, pomegranate, mangosteen, montmorency cherry, maqui, raspberry leaf, cranberry extract and prune fruit extract).
All this goodness works to strengthen the health of your cells, preventing the damage that results in ageing, cellulite, and all those other things we try so hard to keep at bay.
The taste is tangy, with the tiniest hint of bitter. One portion is only a teaspoon, which you barely notice mixed up into a smoothie or sprinkled on your favourite yoghurt. Enjoy on your spa session while flicking through those magazines and listening to something peaceful.
And, over the following weeks, you can repeat the above, add to fruit juice or sprinkle on your breakfast cereal.

Really Good Cellulite Oil
My favourite spa treatment has to be a detox body wrap; sadly not something that’s easy to replicate at home! However, a good pre-bath body brush can be followed with a (gentle but) deep massage with Fushi’s cellulite oil for a similar effect.
This is a great time to point out the additional benefit to the home spa: you actually own the products used and you’re far more likely to see a result through their ongoing application than you are during an occasional spa treatment.
The oil smells quite medicinal, with a hint of high-end Deep Heat about its fragrance! It must be due to the warming blend of Gotu Kola, Green Coffee been oil and Sweet Birch. Gotu Kola is renowned for its circulatory benefits and, in this instance, has been triple infused for thrice the effect. Green coffee bean oil is also a fantastic stimulant, so this really gets the blood flowing. Oh, and by the way, the ingredients are 98.75% organic.
To feel utterly pampered, you can afford to apply a little more than usual during your home spa, taking the time to focus on the application. Day to day, you only need to apply a little and you might not have quite so much time for the massage.
This is one of the smoothest oils of its kind I have used and it really makes the skin feel tingly and alive. I believe it’s made a positive difference to the texture and tone of my skin, but realise it’s through longer-term use that you’d really be able to tell.
I’m certainly in support of this product’s name!

Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil
Anyone who read my previous Coconut Oil post will know what a multitasking item this truly is. For home spa, I recommend a triple-pronged (is that possible?) super-nourishing treatment…
Firstly, run yourself a nice steamy bath – not the usual recommended temperature for frequent bathing, but a treat on such an occasion – and liberally apply Fushi’s coconut oil to damp hair, knot into a bun and bathe. The steam in the air will help to lock in all of the emollient properties for a deeply hydrating and completely pure treatment. Comb and rinse and admire your angelically soft locks.
Once out of the tub, scrub your toes and heels and massage a quarter of a teaspoon of coconut oil onto your feet. Add a smidgen more to any other dry spots: knees, elbows and ankles being the most likely suspects.
And, to complete the triple, when it’s time for your ‘spa meal’ whip yourself up a superfood salad, such as the one created by Emma Hellewell for the Coconut Sensation.
Fushi’s offering is beautifully packaged, perfectly delicious and very reasonably priced.
£5.30 for 250g
Of course, this is only scratching the surface of Fushi’s wellbeing and home spa offering. I’m a little besotted and will be building up my collection over time!
I’d love to hear if you’re also a fan or if there’s anything you’re longing to try from the range.

Hi!
Really great review, definitely going to try the coconut oil soon!
Please have a look at my blog, I’ve just posted a review of the Really Good Cellulite Oil as well: http://lipsticksandheels.wordpress.com/2012/09/11/fushi-wellbeings-really-good-cellulite-oil/
Thanks!
Thanks so much, I most definitely will take a peek to see how you’ve been finding the cellulite oil. And don’t forget to let me know how you get on with the coconut oil when you do! x
I find all of the products in this article very appealing. The cellulite oil sounds very enticing and I am going to drop a few hints if anybody asks what I would like for Christmas! I will be buying some coconut oil to use for both pampering and culinary purposes.
Thanks Sheena, I hope your Christmas gift shoppers will be paying close attention and you’ll find a Fushi parcel under the tree this year! x
